There are many different ways to swim whether you are doing it for sport or fun. Swimming can be a lot of fun if you do it the right way, and if you struggle swimming then learning how to swim with better technique could make it much more enjoyable for you.
Swimming happens to be one of the best workouts anyone could do, but only if you do it correctly. When you first begin swimming avoid just diving into the pool and begin swimming around. You want to take the time to stretch out your body and prepare it for a rigorous work out. If you usually just swim laps this isn’t doing much for your body and not building onto your body’s strength.
If you are one who usually swims a mile three times a week and keeps the same pace throughout your swim try mixing things up a bit. Do a little bit of your mile as a wind sprint, meaning go faster then usual. After you’ve done this you will want to have a resting period and then do it again. There is no point swimming at the same pace for a mile straight, so break things up a bit, but be consistent.
One great technique that can really help you build your strength and endurance is by doing a five lengths the fastest you possible can, then rest for fifteen seconds and do it again. Do ten sets of this but make sure you are going with towards the current to make things a little more difficult. By doing this ten times you will quickly feel your muscles burning and the next set of ten you do will be easier.
You want to keep challenging yourself and making things harder or you will not see much progress. Just make sure that when you do a workout session do the same thing for that swimming workout and the next time you do a workout interchange it with something a little more difficult.
When you consider working out in water compared to working out on land there is much more resistance in water as the gravity levels around you are much more minimal. This can make any workout ten times harder then one you’d do on land. Running in water is much more complicated then running on land so if you want to do a running workout do it in water, you’ll feel the difference.
Swimming can be one of the best workouts for anyone and is a great way to get back in shape while staying cool doing it. Take advantage of working out in water as your strength will increase more rapidly then it would just running a mile each day around your local town.
By doing a few simple swimming workouts you will quickly see that your endurance and strength in water improves a lot. If you stay consistent with your workouts you will become much faster and have a larger endurance rate then you did the first day you started out. By sticking with it you will soon become one of the fastest and more rigorous swimmers around. By just doing a workout three times a week doing the same timeframe for each workout you will soon be much stronger then before. Incorporate swimming into your regular workout, you’ll never regret it.
