Tips for Swimming

Swimming is easy to learn but hard to excel in sport. It takes time to learn the proper techniques of swimming. Here are some tips for swimming to improve your skills by following them:

Basic Swimming Tips:

- Practice of swimming techniques like hand entry, catch, pull, exit along with kicking and breathing can help to improve your skills of swimming.

- Least possible resistance to water should be created in swimming stokes. Splashing should be very less so that the forward movement is smooth and even.

- Take few deep breaths and stretch your body before jumping or diving in the water. It is advised to build your stamina before you for a long swim session.

- Exercising in water is takes 12 times more effort and resistance to land exercising.

- Keep your swimming in limits and remain with in those limits. Do not over do the swimming exercise.

- Do not take alcohol before swimming as it can weaken your balance judgment and skills. It can even reduce the tendency of your body to stay warm.

- It is advised to swim only in administered regions.

- Avoid chewing gums while swimming as they can easily make you choke.

- Look out for No diving sign. Do not dive headfirst in the pool if you are not sure about its depth. Always go feet first in such situation.

Tips to Improve Your Swimming:

- Remain streamlined while swimming. Streamlining is the biggest achievement by any swimmer.

- Swim faster than your normal pace but don’t forget to take rest and not to exert your self.

- Skill is the basic requirement for swimming and skill has to be practiced. Most people do not try to improve their skills and get frustrated.

- If you swim fewer lengths and rest more but keep your speed at little faster this can have better effect on technique and general fitness instead of just swimming up and down non stop.

Tips for Beginners:

- Make a long streamlined shape by stretching out in water as you swim. Try to reach out for the other end of theswimming pool on each stroke.

- Try to push and float as away and far from the wall as you can. Repeat it several times, aiming to go further every time.

- Practice breathing for balance in your strokes. Gradually increase the count of strokes in your breathing pattern.

Tips for Advanced Swimmers:

- Try and concentrate on new drills to improve and enhance your arm skills.

- Try to practice on moving the core of your body while keeping your head fixed while swimming.

- Keep a count of your strokes in the swimming pool and then try to minimize the count of strokes to improve your swimming.

- Practice the backstroke by balancing a cup of tea, your goggles or a plastic cup filled with water on your head and swim slowly for few minutes.

Healthy Swimming Tips:

- Don’t go in the pool if you are suffering from diarrhea as germs can spread in water and make the water contaminated.

- Pool water is not clean so avoid swallowing it.

- Inform the lifeguard if you observe any thing unhygienic floating in the pool.

- Do not let babies with water swim in the pool as their diapers might leak and make the water dirty.

- Keep a watch on your child as kids can drown in easily.

- Apply sunscreen on yours as well as your child’s skin to protect from sunburn because serious sunburns can cause skin cancer.

- Take bath or shower after every swimming session as public pools are not very clean and hygienically safe to use.
